UGH... I wanted to barf the second I finished my breakfast here. The french toast tasted like a really gross overly sweet piece of cake and has this weird yellow color, the eggs were bland and so were the home fries. Service is ok but this the Double T is super busy on weekend mornings so thats excusable. I think this food seemed a lot more palatable when I was in high school skipping class and getting stoned with my friends.

Sorry to say that this place has dropped off the list. There are just too many other restaurants to try out there to settle for mediocre food. Our service was good and the owner was friendly and attentive to our kids. But the food: omelette was the opposite of light and fluffy, limp soggy fries cooked in old oil with a pronounced off-taste. Another tasteless muffin. My brother's crabcake was way undercooked inside (with the consistency of toothpaste). They comped his crabcake, charging him only for the soup, 2 sides, and drink. But a la carte, these items cost only a few dollars less than the entire meal, so he was effectively given 2 or 3 dollars back for a mostly uneaten crabcake. My wife had the blueberry pie. She said it was just OK, tasting like a pop-tart. I've heard people gush over these desserts. They do look pretty in the display, but I don't think we've had one yet that has been any more than just fair.

Our party of 8 out-of-staters went for crab cakes, upon the recommendation of some local folks. They were yummy and we had a good experience. Plenty big portions!

Great diner in the chromy Baltimore tradition. Good and fast service, cool retro booths with personal jukeboxes full of Elvis tunes, lots of elderly people that look like they just came from church (any time of day or night), a long stainless steel bar with barstools to have a malted. There is a reason the parking lot is ALWAYS full. The menu is something like twelve pages long, with maybe 30 or 40 items per page- plus various daily specials and soups. Yet somehow they manage to keep everything pretty good. I've never, ever had a bad meal here in perhaps 10 visits over the last 8 years. The home made soups are probably their best items. Very, very tasty. The deserts are great- the chocolate malted milkshakes are spoonworthy. The main dinners and salads diner-great. Not great, but great for a diner. The salad is iceberg lettuce, but it's fresh and there is always a lot of it and the dressings are good. Their Greek salad is huge, diverse and filling. The chicken salad looks like it has a whole chicken of meat on it. Come to think of it, the portions are always generous. Baltimore1 is all about diners, and this is one of the best diners you will ever visit.

I used to be a regular at this restaurant for almost three years, and I dined there often twice a week. The food is a little bit a lottery. There are good dishes and there are good dishes. Additionally, the quality is by no means consistent in general (but there are a few things that were impossible to "screw up" like the Greek Salad). I liked this restaurant mostly for the quantity of decent food. The Ellicott City Double T was also lower priced than the one in Catonsville, and the inside was more pleasant (before the recent renovation in Catonsville). The major problem that totally threw me off was the service and the management. It happened pretty frequently that one would wait for 15 minutes for the waiter to approach, then 15 minutes to bring a coffee or a drink, then another 15 minutes to bring your meal. At this point (45 minutes), you could start eating. If you wanted a refill, you would have to wait another 15 minutes for the waitress to approach, and a next 15 minutes to get your refill (or a check). All of this tardiness occurred when the restaurant was not busy at all. Later, the waitress would claim that she had another customers to serve ... but all of her customers were also waiting for her, and she just disappeared in the kitchen for more than 10 minutes at a time. Such sub-par performance would occur repeatedly, and talking to management would not help. The drop that made the cup ran over was when I found a sharp object (piece of metal) in my meal. Since (of course), the waitress was not immediately available, I sat it aside on a piece of napkin, and continued my meal. When she finally appeared, I was accused of planting the piece of metal in the meal in front of the manager -- just because I put it aside, and not waited for her ... Of course the manager did nothing in this situation, so I just left, never to return again. (The Double T Diner in Catonsville may seem shadier, and have worse service initially, but it is actually WAY better than the one in Ellicott City because of this event ...)

I actually go to the Glen Burnie location most often... but I have been to the Ellicott City location (and the Annapolis) as well and they all seem about the same. The food is mediocre at best, but I would say the service is pretty good at least 80% of time, and for a diner that is a good thing. As others have said you take what you can get at 3AM (not many better offerings in the Baltimore area) and for what this place is I think it does a decent job.

The Double T is a straight-up diner. But it's not the best diner I've ever been to. I usually get the Double T Special Club sandwich, which is pretty good, or the patty melt, also good though greasy. I'm not a big breakfast eater so I've never sampled a huge portion of its menu but it all looks OK. The portions are generous. The wait staff is usually friendly and responsive. I have experienced a slow kitchen. So if you want a big meal served in a sit-down restaurant for not a whole lot more than fast food, the Double-T is for you.

Went here on a whim for some milkshakes and tenders. Food was pretty good, but a notch lower than Silver Diner. The clientele on a lazy Sunday was in a word, trashy. However, it didn't ruin our time and our server was very friendly. Will return for breakfast or desserts. A solid 3 stars.

This is an all around perfect diner! My family and I have been going to eat here ever since I was little, it's one of our main go-tos. The service is great, and we always see familiar faces. Not to mention the amazing menu variety, and each option is great!! I would highly recommend the Double T to anyone looking for a great local diner experience.

The food was fine. Nothing special but nothing bad either. Our server was really weird. I don't know how to explain it, but he had a very nonchalant, shifty manner and made it seem like he wasn't going to bring us anything we asked for, but then he would show up a few minutes later with whatever it was we needed.

Had a quick dinner, and I forgot how much I love the place. Quick service, very friendly people; our waitress made sure we were taken care of. As a guest surprise, my wife and I got a hug greeting from one of the original owners. Another win for Double T Diner. We had Chicken Pot Pies made from scratch. Oh man, very cool!

Surprisingly, the Maryland crab soup's not at all bad with a decent amount of Old Bay spice and claw meat. Outside of that, it's pretty average diner food. Double-T's got a huge book of a menu, and so everything coming out of the kitchen is just pretty middle-of-the-road. It's a real prime example of quantity vs. quality. My burger did come cooked to order, though, so even if it wasn't the best cheeseburger around at least there's some attention to detail. Service is what you'd expect from a diner on the fringe of suburbia - servicable, but not remarkable in any way.

Trying to write this review objectively and not through the scope of being from NJ where diners, for what they are, are top notch. The Double TT is fair at best, certainly not a pleasant dining experience when it comes to the food. I had the Double T special which is two eggs, home fries, choice of meat (I had the beef sausage) and choice of pancakes or French toast, of which I chose the latter. The over medium cooked eggs were exactly what I had hoped. The beef sausage was crunchier than I typically like, but since beef sausage tends to be a rarity, I was happy to get it. The French toast was absolutely abhorrent; I had to drown it in pre-packaged syrup, in order the rescue myself from the dry and flavorless bites. The service was middling, it did however take approximately 9 minutes to get my bill after I was finished eating, but I digress. I get the sense that people go here because it's convenient, but I'll be opting for inconvenience going forward.

I rarely write a review without visiting a business at least 2 to 3 times and the double T diner is no exception. My first two visits at the Double T were okay at best. As diners go, especially Double T's, this one falls below average. I have the say, this was the worst experience at this chain. They had a large party of about 30 people including 10 to 12 children which was fine. The owner came over so it's gonna be a few extra minutes and got us our drinks. A ten minutes later our server came over. We Both ordered cheeseburger deluxe's. I had onion rings and my date had french fries. Total bill with the soda was $28.80. Then the waiting game happened. It took over 25 minutes to receive our food. In that time our server stood over on the side and was gabbing with other servers nonstop. Server from another table saw that I needed a refill which of course wouldn't happen if they didn't use such tiny little cups and charge such an exorbitant price for a cup of soda. It was amazing to me that she was completely oblivious to the fact that we sat there waiting for her to bring us our food. This is not the first time I've experienced this servers arrogance. When the food finally did come the plates were hot because our food set under the warmer for probably at least 10 to 15 of those minutes while she sat there and talked and talked and talked. I've posted pictures of the inedible product. The tomatoes were sensually white on the inside in the lettuce was brown on the edges as you can see. Onion rings were oil soaked and I swear the batter was very granular like it wasn't fully mixed. My dates food was inedible everything was completely dried out from sitting under a heat lamp. No refills for our beverages during our meal. And of course, in classic server style she became very attentive when it was time to deliver the check. Incredible. I'm not going to post the description or the name of the server because I want everyone to avoid this place like the plague. Take your chances here. The food is subpar for double T diner. And remember I am basing this review on three visits here. Too expensive for such poor quality food and service. You could do better by driving six or 7 miles down the road to the Catonsville double T diner and get far better food quality and far better service. And a note to the owners who decided to cheap out on the size of the sofa glasses. You're ripping your guests off and we know it. At almost $3 a cup with ice there can't be more than 8oz of soda. And your strategy of having servers avoid refills is being noticed.

This use to be on of my favorite places to go. However, tonight they showed me they really don't care about their customers. My wife ordered a shrimp dish, which came with soup and salad. When she started to eat it, I noticed I long hair stuck to one of the shrimp. We quickly called the waiter over and removed the dish and asked if we would like another one. My wife just asked for some fries and shared my sandwich. When we got the check, they charged us $5.99 for her soup and salad. I asked the waiter about it and said he had no choice and got the manager, who is some young kid. He refused to remove the $5.99 for the soup and salad. I argued and he said that is what they do. A good restaurant would have given us everything for free or a free dessert or something. Not these guys. Horrible how they treat their customers and they knew we were regulars. Well, I won't be going back anytime soon, which makes my wife very happy, as she just goes cause I like the place. They need to learn how to treat their customers better. For $5.99, they lost a good customer.

I visit Double T fairly frequently there are two in my neighborhood. We stopped in just to grab a mid morning meal. I ordered the crab cake Benedict and to be honest it was much better than I expected! The eggs were cooked slightly more than they should've been but that was actually fine with me. The potatoes were basically burnt so I didn't bother with them. Since to day was 3.14, I decided to end my meal with a slice of banana cream pie to go... Well the pie made me sad. It was a huge mound of whipped cream with some slices of banana inside. I don't know about you but I have never had a banana cream pie that was 100% whipped cream...FAIL! Well they have plenty of other desserts, so I may give them another try in the dessert department.

The server was extremely rude and the time it took to get the food was not worth the wait. When I advised management they appeared not to care. I can see why they have coupons to come eat there. I have eaten at several other tt diners and the service and food were great. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Underwhelming, overpriced. Subpar diner that isn't even open 24 hrs. With that said I'm sure my review won't keep the geriatric swingers away at lunchtime. Maybe I'm ordering the wrong items? Staff weren't too helpful or attentive.

The onion rings and desserts are on point. Definitely a go to dinner and breakfast spot when I don't feel like cooking. Only 3 stars because the person who runs the register seems to be totally weirded out by lgbt folks. Everything else is 5 stars!

I like how a lot of the other reviewers seem to expect fantastic food and service at a run of the mill diner. It's not all that fancy, and unless you go there during a dead quiet time, it's going to be busy and the waiters are going to be scrambling all over themselves to get people served. Despite the ratings, this place is the diner that most locals go to. Some of their servers are good. If you there regularly they treat you like kings and give you the good servers, plus the servers recognize you. My family goes there with my sister, who has severe autism, and they have been incredibly patient with everything that goes with that. My sister has thrown and broken things and they have always been polite about it. One time, she threw a plate or something and it shattered (of course), and one of the front desk guys, Joey, comes up to us and says, "Don't worry about it. We're Greeks. A party doesn't start with us until someone breaks something." As for the variety of food, they have practically everything. Is it absolutely perfect? No, of course not. It's a diner trying to offer everything that everyone wants. Is the food good? Yes it is. It's good, soulful food that isn't trying to impress anyone, just trying to feed. There breakfasts are the best. I love their omelets. I also love the fusion of Greek and American food. The Gyro Club is another one of my favorites. It is hard to substitute things if the food has already been prepared. The soups, sides, hash browns, etc. are all made up in the morning in big batches so it is difficult to get things substituted for already prepared things. They do have a lot of options and are always willing to make things right. My only complaint is they started making their desserts out of house, at Ya Ya's bakery. I mean their bakery stuff is good, but when they were making all of it in house, it was fantastics! Their carrot cake was so moist and delicious. You can still get it at the Catsonville diner, because they make everything in house there, but not at the Ellicott City one.

It's frustrating because this diner is so close to me and I LOVE breakfast, but it just does not compare to the one in Catonsville at all. It's so disappointing! I've tried it several times and we have always been disappointed. We don't like the home fries here and my husbands eggs were cold on our last visit. On a previous visit my eggs were overcooked. Service is slow. At the other location on route 40 the service is great and food comes out quickly and hot. This diner has so much potential - a great location and it's nice inside, but the food and service just aren't there. I'd rather drive 20 minutes to the other one!

There is a strategy to diners like this. Temper your expectations. Order to their strengths: the specials, breakfasts, and dishes they might seem to sell often. Pretend you are dining with Archie Bunker; order what Archie would. If your approach to the endless multi-page menu is to make things easy on the kitchen, the unpretentious food will be solid, tasty, filling and entirely within (hopefully reasonable) expectations. My son and I recently had the Broasted Chicken dinners, which we both loved, by way of example. If you expect gourmet dining, or order something that sounds like it might be haute cuisine or nuveau in some way, you will set yourself up for a disappointment. If you order a dish heavily reliant on the freshest of ingredients, you will be disappointed. As long as one follows the strategy, Double T will please you consistently. If you step out of the comfort zone of its 1960s expertise, well you have been warned. The all-over-the-board reviews here on Yelp probably reflect a mix of people who followed the strategy and people who did not. Remember, you are dining with Archie. Those Were The Days... PS - If more than half the tables are occupied, consider ordering something cold unless you have a lot of time, patience and left the little kids home. The place can get overwhelmed in the kitchen.

The food is delicious if you like home-cooked food. It's a very traditional diner; if you're looking for fast food, this is not the place. Their burgers and fries taste great. The desserts are in much higher portions than other places. If you're trying to find baked goods or ice cream dishes that are filling, it will definitely be more than enough for the day. The only disadvantage is the lack of wireless internet; nothing like sitting down at a meal and not being able to check your email or whatever once you're done and waiting for the food to settle. For the drinkers, they do have a decent selection of alcoholic beverages. They even have various flavors of Russian-brand vodka.

FIRST: The waitresses and staff are ridiculously rude. It's hard to think they even remotely like their jobs while working there. We have waited 20 mins before a waitress or waiter has even looked our way after sitting down. There is no excuse for this especially when I consistently see wait staff and busers on their cell phones all the time - even while the restaurant is packed. When I've asked someone to bring coffee for my husband and I after consecutive waiting, they'll come over and slam the coffee down on the table and walk away. SECOND: I feel this restaurant does a terrible job compensating peoples diets and food needs. For example: if you want to swap one vegetable for another because of an allergy they'll charge you for it regardless of the circumstances which is beyond ridiculous. You have how many dishes on your menu and you're going to charge me to substitute two vegetables? THIRD: The menu is way over complicated and their food is overpriced. I guess I'm desperate eating here because MD in general doesn't have any mom and pop diner's to go to. OVERALL: I'm done spending my money here. Every and any person that even remotely suggests going here I tell them to run away as fast as they can.

Warning, if you go here....KNOW WHAT YOU WANT before you go in! Their menu is HUGE. You will spend more time trying to figure out what you want than the time it takes to eat it. We stopped here on the way home from another adventure where the food situation didn't pan out as we planned. It was after 8 PM on a weekday and we were both starved. Took us a long time to decide. Our young-ish waiter was very forgiving, he probably goes through this alot though. Finally, Athena Melt for me, Turkey Club for him. Both came with fries and soup. The Athena Melt was not exactly what I was expecting.....it was a LOT more food than I could eat. More than half went home with me and served as lunch the next day. The only thing that made me sad was they used canned mushrooms instead of fresh. The place was only about 1/3 full of customer on this night. A little loud with the TV's they have installed at various places. I probably wouldn't try to come back during their busy times, it must get very loud then. But service and quality of food was on par for this type of restaurant.

We found this diner while driving around after a T-ball game looking for a quick place to lunch. It was prime Saturday brunch time. The place was packed out, but we were quickly seated and waited on. The prices reflect the huge portion size of the food. We would go back again if in the area. I see a lot of negative reviews here, but that was not our experience at all. Give it a try. It think you might be pleasantly surprised as we were.

Terrible, terrible, terrible... They served me chicken that was still a little raw, I asked if they could cook it more, they came back with another chicken still raw but this time with a red vein inside, it made me feel incredibly sick, it was absolutely disgusting, Then I receive the bill and find I was charged more than I had expected. I asked the waitress and she said it is because I got to deluxe which included french fries and soup which when I ordered the sandwich she did not tell me just asked "What kind of soup would you like" instead of "would you like soup, extra charge" so I assumed it came with the meal and the extra charge for french fries she asked "french fries are okay, right?" So I thought that was one of the side options... Absolutely awful, the chicken was dry, unseasoned. The place overall gives an unclean atmosphere where you'd expect unsanitary food practices in the back kitchen. The front man and the entire staff was rude. Just terrible, I was so upset never going there again.

This place probably gets a bad wrap because it's 24 hrs and has a large menu with nothing really standing out. Had the double T breakfast; the sausage stood out, everything else was basic whitewashed home cooking. Price was a tad high for the quality. I'd take this place over IHop any day. Hunger and the inability to make my own breakfast is the only reason to come back here. Well earned 3 star rating.

I have a feeling that this is one of those places that won't see a loss in clientele from a 2 star review and that's okay. Caters to the locals... I certainly have my fair share of spots like that back home and love them 2 stars and all. You just have to be sure to go in with good friends, low expectations and a little bit of a buzz. ;) The service wasn't terrible and in fact I found our waitresses surly demeanor amusing. Added to the experience. The menu is BIG (think Cheesecake Factory but with fewer appetizing options) and on the plus side so are the dishes. The food is decent and the atmosphere is exactly what you would expect of a busy diner. Not saying that I won't be back, it just won't be my first choice.

Basic hash browns are awful, with uncooked onions and overcooked potatoes, pancakes are awful and a gloppy mess of toppings, toast is dry and awful, omelets are bad too. Waitresses are terrible. Avoid this place.

I AM a fan! This double T diner is one of my faves. It's mostly your typical diner book that takes you 27 years to flip through. But some of their specials are realllly good. I always get their chicken wings with the sauce on the side. Sometimes they make this amazing sauce. Tastes like bbq, hot sauce, onions, etc. But last time i went it was a normal red hot sauce. This place is always really busy but each time we have had amazing servers. Like AMAZING to the point i had to find the manager and tell them. I havent tried any of the greek food. I saw the spinach pie platter with uhm...pastitsio? (sp) and it didn't look great. I'll stick to hickory ridge grill for this, i think. My dad always gets the chicken fried steak that comes with a "special" sauce. It's almost like an alfredo. 2 side, a salad, maybe a soup too and a tea for like 12$. It's amazing. Pretty good, and for the price, can't beat. The steaks are thin, but they give you two. Def more than enough food. Last time i got the reuben with corned beef which comes with soup, i got the new england clam chowder which was better than the can version but nothing too exciting. Also came with a small greek salad, fries, and a tea for less than 10$. Whoa. Although I'd much rather go to Honey Pig up the street, I like double T for a wide vareity, awesome prices, and great service. OH their desserts! yummy yummy.

Staff was nice but food and service was sub par. We asked for our check and waited over 30 minutes to get it. It was the first time I ever thought about dine and dashing (don't worry, I didn't). Probably will not visit again. Food made me feel like garbage.

I live 2 minutes away and this is one of the best breakfast places in ellicott city. Sometimes they are way too crowded and take a Long time with the food. I recommend a visit to this place but on the right day.

I think the tagline "Meh, I've experienced better" in the Yelp 2 star review pretty much sums this place up. Truthfully our visits to this place have been a little disappointing. We usually find ourselves here due to hunger and location, but never because we are thinking "yippee, let's go to the Double T". If you go there during a busy time prepare to wait. If you go there when it's slow you still might wait. The wait staff has always been courteous, just not the speediest out there. But if you're in a super hurry you shouldn't really be going to a diner anyway. The food has never been great, just okay. I've tried burgers, salads, and breakfasts there. Always just okay. Last week I tried a beef brisket sandwich and it was super dry. I asked the guy up front (manager?) if there was some sauce or dressing that was supposed to come with it, not in a jerky way but truly wondering if I had missed something. The dude didn't answer and looked at me like I was crazy. So basically if you're hungry enough this place will do in a pinch. The food won't kill you, just leave you less hungry and a few dollars poorer than you were when you walked in. The second we find a decent place nearby I doubt we'll be back. We may give it another shot in a few months, but I'm not excited about the possibility.

Here are the Double T "rules": -No splitting checks. If you only have credit cards, too bad. One person has to pay for everybody. -You must order $3 worth of food. You cannot sit with your friends without ordering food. -Splitting plates is a $4 fee. So if someone lets you try a piece of their (likely disgusting) food the restaurant charges you $4 more. I would avoid this place purely on principle. And that's not even counting the angry waitresses, borderline inedible food, and all around attitude that makes you want to put a gun in your mouth. I'm really surprised that a bunch of other reviewers said "the food sucks and the service was terrible" then gave it 3 stars. Proves most people go back to a bad restaurant every day like Rihanna rushes back to Chris Brown after he punches her in the face. My advice; have some standards and stay FAR away from the Double T franchise.

Tonight, with a dozen employees milling about watching the TV, we sat for half an hour with no service until leaving. The food is decent with the usual high selection and low prices, but it often comes at the cost of service. Don't get me wrong, we've had great service a few times, but it is more often eclipsed by the mediocre or non-existant. If you need food late at night and aren't sure where to go, it is a fine backup. However, I skip it whenever I have my druthers. On a positive note, their portions and combos are gigantic, if you are into that. I usually get one of the fish specials that comes with sound AND salad AND a drink AND a side of your choice for between $15 and $18 depending on which fish. It's a good deal, inconsistent service aside. For this, I have to give it a mediocre star rating at least.

I'm not from here but was visiting Maryland for the week for a family wedding... My family wanted to eat before heading back home and we saw this place so gave it a try. When we went in the place was packed but it was big with several tables empty... But we were asked to wait 10-15 mins....okay whatever it was busy so we waited. But not even 1 minute later a larger family of WHITE people came and were seated immediately...and then another few minutes later more WHITE families came in after us and were seated immediately. Meanwhile we were still sitting there WAITING. My mom asked how much longer the wait was and they told us 10-15 minutes more. We waited another minute but we saw that another WHITE family came in and was seated immediately. We left and had dunkin donuts a few blocks down. I'm not from here so idk what the deal is with these people and us ASIANS but it really felt like they were being a bit racist making us wait while several WHITE families after us were seated immediately. I thought since I saw a few korean places in the area that they would be friendly. oh well, thank god I live in NYC.

Gordon Ramsey should go here. Except I don't know if they're in financial trouble or not. But if he did go to Double T Diner, here is how it MIGHT go: 'Hello, table for dinner please. Wow this is a huge booth. I mean you could seat 22 people in this one booth. Okay, this is the menu? Really? Can you come back in an hour to give me enough time to read it all? Nine pages not including the empty clear plastic sleeves for the specials. And pictures. I always worry when I see a menu with pictures. ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... (checks watch) ... ... okay yes I'm ready to order. I'll have the matzo ball soup, spinach dip, the mixed vegetables plate, a vegetable wrap, and a garden omelet with some cheese added. ... wow, the matzo ball soup and spinach dip that was fast ... hm the soup taste like a packet of chicken soup mixed into hot water and some sort of premade hushpuppy dropped in. The spinach dip is dreadful, very bland, like the spinach was frozen, microwaved, then mixed in with a concentrated soup of some kind and some processed cheese, then microwaved again. Too bad. That's awful. Please take that away. ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... (checks watch) ... ... Ok the mixed vegetables plate. Oh no the vegetables are swimming...what is that? Buttered water? Is this celery? This kind of takes over the flavor of the whole dish. Tastes like celery cooked in buttered water with some oregano dashed over and lots of salt. Ugh. I just tilted my plate toward my glass and poured at least 4 ounces of buttered water off. That's disgusting. Let's try the wrap. Oh come on, they're not even trying. Do they care? This is a soggy salad wrapped up in a soggy tortilla. This isn't even fit to be served. Did the chef taste it? How can he serve something like that?? Please, just take it. Maybe the garden omelet will be better. Oh my, this is overcooked. The egg is literally browned. That isn't good. the vegetable bits are too large and somewhat undercooked, and look like the same vegetables from my mixed vegetable plate..." I don't know if Chef Ramsey would say any of that about Double T, I certainly don't have an expert palate. I like going once in a while for the atmosphere.

    3.5 stars. Like Jesse B., I'm not the kind to go to a diner and get anything other than a nice, big, thoroughly unhealthful breakfast. But I'd already eaten breakfast the day the in-laws decided to treat us to their favorite greasy spoon. So I ordered the next best diner meal after eggs and home fries: the tuna melt. Other than being made with entirely too much mayo, that tuna melt was delish, served on rye toast (my favorite toast in the whole world) and smothered with cheddar. I killed it. And the large, hearty steak fries that came with it. As well as the matzo ball soup that accompanied the "platter" option. Another quintessential diner dish. Yes, it was a lot of food. It was the holidays. Stop judging me. Husband had an open-face meatloaf sandwich with baked potato and beets (straight from the can -- classic). He felt the texture of the 'loaf was more spongy that burger-y, but the flavor was there, and he managed to eat just about all of it. SIL went with an omelet and home fries, Step-MIL the old two eggs, bacon, sausage, and breakfast potatoes, and FIL had the Athenian Sandwich platter. Best food ever? Ha ha. Great diner food? Sure. The service was pretty slow, but the place was packed, and our server was working his fanny off. I can see why this is the in-laws' favorite weekend breakfast spot. I'd be happy to get treated to more meals here. {{wink wink}}

After trying this diner several times and talking with management, we will not return. Toast is cold and omelets are lukewarm . Hash browned potatoes are cold and burned. Service is spotty at best. If this were the first time, I might give it another try but there are other places that appreciate my business and work to make it right!

Craving diner food so I'm writing this review today. I was here once a while back and it's just standard Greek-owned diner fare. At this location, I tried the strawberry shortcake, the ultimate nachos, and a few other things. Everything tasted fine. I wish I could've tried more cakes. They seem to have a fantastic cake selection, so I'm going to try getting more cake there the next time I visit!

I am not one of those people that go to a diner for anything other than breakfast. Frankly, I'm always worried about ordering anything other than breakfast. We went to this Double T at 10:30 PM on a Tuesday because after 10 PM the only quick food options on the pike are fast food. Was surprised to learn that this Double T was not open 24 hours like so many others, but it makes sense due to the low volume of night traffic on this otherwise busy route. They closed at 11 and we got there at 10:25. There were only five tables being used by patrons and the second dining room was already shut down. We were quickly seated, ordered and had our food within 10 minutes. We at and were out at 11 sharp. The waitress was the epitome of what you'd expect a diner waitress to be. It was almost comical. She was a little chilly at first but soon warmed up. I got the breakfast special: two eggs over easy, two pieces of bacon, two sausage links and french toast. It was delish and hit the spot. MB got a cheese omelette, home fries and toast. He wanted grits but was told they were only sold during the morning. All and all, it was pretty good. Not great, but good. I prefer the 24 hour Double T in Annapolis over this one but was still satisfied.

First the positives. Service was prompt. Manager/Owner seemed nice. My salad dressing was okay. Restaurant was pretty clean. Now for the negatives. Our server seemed a little over the top, to the point where I thought I was in some Twilight Zone episode. A little to Tarantino-like. My wife ordered vegetable soup which did seem home made but was very salty. She had a Blt, which tasted okay but the lettuce seemed old or not washed very well. The Fries were disgusting, looked like they sat in a heat lamp since God only knows. I had a garden salad and an open faced Hot Turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. With a vegetable of broccoli. First off, my salad was borderline, barely fresh enough to eat with out losing my appetite, but well on my way. Then came what I was waiting for, some good old fashioned comfort food I haven't had in years...cue the "Wah Wah sound". Turkey looked like sliced lunchmeat and was dry, the mashed potato buds, tasted like nothing, which I could have forgiven if at least the gravy would have not been neon yellow with that good ole canned flavor you comet know and love at TT Diner, NOT! Too bad because with a few tweaks here and there that place could have been a great local eatery. Quality over Quantity should prevail at the Double T Diner

Traditional diner food that's not terribly overpriced. On the other hand the service is lacking and incredibly slow. Plenty of better places in the area for the same price.

I always tell people, "We don't come here for the service, we come here for the French Toast." I've been frequenting this diner for years and nothings happened that has made me never return, but nothing has happened to make me miss it if I haven't been in a while. The service is often inadequate but the food is affordable, with good portions, and the one in Catonsville is open late (this one is only open until 11-12). There is a pretty extensive menu but I have usually stayed with Breakfast, but I've had an occasional grilled cheese sandwich. The French Toast is AMAZING - I don't like the home fries- being that I'm from the south I'm a bit of a snob, the biscuits and gravy should be avoided - my boyfriend is adventurous and has had the fried clams (I'd never try them there) and he says they are good - he also had fried chicken there that was truly fried and not just breaded. As I said, the price was good, the hours are accommodating, but the service stinks. You can decide if its worth a try.

It's another review for another diner! Its dinerrrrrrr!!! Diner quality! Diner food! Diner service! But this one was great I mean was good good good! My beef patty omelette was ready pretty fast and delicious! Our server "Chrissy" was great and so friendly! I enjoyed the service as much as my food! Their food prices are very reasonable but the Desert sounded lil pricey to me! Overall everything was good and there is possibility I go back there soon!!!

I haven't eaten here in a long time, used to love the Catonsville location. Stopped on a recent Sunday night, about 9:30 PM. Seated in the area next to the counter, which was the only thing open. Maybe 10 other diners. Menus were left. My friend went to the restroom. Meanwhile, a big argument started up between a supervisor and someone who was about to get off her shift over her shirt not being tucked in. After this was resolved, listened to more staff chat since the counter seemed to be their place to hang out. Meanwhile, a busboy was loudly taking plastic glassware out of a rack and placing them on a shelf...unnecessarily loudly, slamming the glasses down. By this time, six, seven minutes had passed and no one had come to the table at all. Staff conversations were very loud, and for some reason, there was no background music playing at all, it was eerily quiet when the staff WASN'T talking. When my friend returned, I was already up with my jacket on and we left -eating there was obviously going to be a miserable experience. Will never come back.

Great classic diner with a substantial menu. We've stopped here a few times as we pass through - love the stuffed flounder, but some of the other menu items are just so-so. I suppose we'd give it less than 4 stars if we were locals and had the opportunity to eat here often, but as it is we've enjoyed our less frequent visits enough to give it 4 stars.

Terrible breakfast, poached eggs were as hard as a rock, I think the bacon was cooked the day before. The manager at the register has no social tact at all, in fact quite nasty. Look over the area for other restaurant, go here if none other fits.

The Double T in Ellicott City was great when it first opened several years ago, but I have had several experiences there in the past few years that have made me decide to never return. This is a shame, because we are a family of 6 and live 5 minutes away.... Food is decent, but customer service is horrible!! The manager was once very kind and attentive to our young children, but he has drastically changed. He almost seems to enjoy ignoring customer feedback. We ignored the first few bad experiences, chalking it up to a "bad night" for the diner, but our last one was the final straw. Our servers were switched mid-way through the meal. Our meals were confused, and we were charged extra for something we did not order. The waiter said, "Don't worry a about it...they will take care of it at the register." At the register, the manager actually ignored my explanation and continued to say the full price out loud. He refused to ask the waiter for clarification, and called me a liar in front of my 3 children. This was all over $4.00. I was a regular customer. We had been coming to the diner regularly for over 4 years. I resisted the urge to argue, as I did not want my children to get upset. I went home and emailed the Double-T. Never received a response. Service in Catonsville is also rude, and tip is added automatically - regardless of quality of the service. They seem to think service at diners is supposed to be rude. Maybe they should consult with a real NY diner and learn that kindness goes a long way.

I'm really surprised by the ratings of Double T Diner because it is a very popular dining location in the EC area. But, I think a lot of people come here simply for tradition's sake (and because it is one of the few places that opens late into the night). I've been here for lunch, dinner and even once just for dessert. I would say that it definitely has a stereotypical diner kind of feel, so it makes the food seem authentic. But, I do have a few reservations. 1. Service is pretty slow 2. The items are the menu are expensive for the quality and kind of food being served. My dad got swordfish once (don't ask me why he got swordfish at Double T) & it was way overcooked & bland. 3. There isn't really anything outstanding about the food--there's everything from breakfast items, sandwiches, burgers, to "Italian" entrees. Quantity of items on the menu does not beat out the quality of food. Overall, I would say that Double T is a fun place to hang out with friends if you just want to grab some coffee, split some dessert or appetizers. It's really not a great place for a real meal.

I've been to various Double T Diners over the years, but I haven't been since I started using Yelp. I visited this particular Double Ts on a Friday after helping my friend move up to Columbia from Silver Spring. After 5 hours or so of moving furniture, we were pretty famished. New to the area, we weren't really sure what places would be open or not at around 11pm. The only place I knew off the top of my head that would be open was Double T, so we made our way over. The Diner was pretty empty and looked like they were trying to close shop, but regardless, the staff were very welcoming and our waitress was hard working and very nice. We asked for quite a bit of refills on sodas and water, and she was very on the ball, despite appearing tired. The menu was large, good for some, bad for others. There were 4 of us, w/ 3 opting for sandwich meals, and 1 opting for an omelette. The sandwich meals come w/ a cup of soup and fries. The waitress informed us that the only soup that was probably any good at the end of the night was the chicken noodle. It was definitely from the bottom of the pot. Pretty salty, a little thick, but it hit the spot. The sandwiches were big, tasty, not blow you away good, but solid diner fare. Everyone seemed happy with their food and the service was really good. I'd be happy to go back again. 3 stars for food, 1 extra for pleasant, good service.

I had a good experience at this diner. It reminds me of the Metro 29 diner in Arlington, with the expansive menu. Despite the large selection of food, I quickly made a selection due to being ravenous from my long journey from VA. My tuna melt was a good choice. The fries are the best. Very generous portions. Next time I will try the desserts. The display of pies looked mouthwatering.

I've been here several times--for breakfast/brunch and for dinner. Last night I ordered the chicken parmigiana sandwich, which came with cole slaw, fries, and the soup of the day which was shrimp bisque. The sandwich was pretty good and very filling. I actually loved the shrimp bisque, but I wished that they had given me something bigger than the small soup bowl that it was in. :) My wife got a fried fillet of flounder sandwich, but she said that the sandwich wasn't seasoned well enough. The fries are steak fries, which aren't really my favorite type of fries. Overall I like this place. I like how they have the family-friendly booths which allow you to play computer games on a screen on the inside wall of the booth. They also have a massive menu, which can be a bit overwhelming if you don't already know what you want to order.

Both of us suffer from a severe food poison after eating their food! I was extremely upset because I had to miss my first day at work the very next day. Poor service: our waiter merely passed the dish and didn't even look at us nor say anything. And restroom was very smelly! Definitely won't come back.

Would normally only go here on a Saturday or Sunday for brunch but went for lunch while in the area. The have a HUGE selection of menu items. I swear they offer more than The Cheesecake Factory. I knew they are owned by a Greek family, so I went with the Gyro. I asked for a Chicken Gyro but got the lamb served to me. Great service, huh? It was good, though not the best I have ever had. My lunchmate had the weekday pasta special. I was skeptical but we were shocked the fettucine alfredo with shrimp and peas looked so amazing! And the portion was really big, so she shared with me. It was delish! You can order the pasta any way you want it so I may be getting that on my next visit.

This diner is a true 5. It is owned by a Greek family and their homemade desserts in the case when you walk in are to die for. Place is always busy and the staff is always friendly. Their menu is about 15 pages long. I would take out of town guests here for breakfast or lunch. Their open faced chicken salad sandwich on english muffin is stupid good. Their Italian omelet is also a great choice.

Even for a diner, this place is pretty crummy. I should know, I live right down the street and I eat there all the time. Not because it's great, but because it's there. Breakfast is definitely their forte but that's not saying much. Eggs are eggs and toast is usually cold. As another reviewer noted, special orders short out their brains. When I go, I get the Florentine Omelet with spinach and feta cheese and unless they forget to clean the grill before they make it, it's pretty good. Dinners are pretty dismal. Everything is overcooked and overly salty and someone needs to give the kitchen a crash course in spices. A diner that has only a passing acquaintance with garlic is just sad. As for the baked goods, what they gain in size, they lack in flavor. Everything tastes basically the same, which is tasteless. The exception is the pies, which are perfect for a late night calorie fest. The overall issue I have with the Double T is the fact that no one there seems to care very much. They may or may not get your food on the table before it gets cold. It may or may not be what you ordered. It may or may not taste good. I can sum this up with a true life experience. I was eating dinner with a friend who decided she wanted a banana split. She took one bite and discovered that the pink ice cream was actually peppermint. When she complained to the manager (our waitress was nowhere to be found) he explained that they ran out of strawberry ice cream but they figured peppermint was the same color so they could use it instead. When my friend told him she really didn't WANT peppermint ice cream with strawberry sauce on it, he replied, "that's all we have." and walked away.

Ooooopssss . I am going against the grain again looking at the previous reviews. Yes this is a great diner as diners go....BUT Yelp isnt just about diners....stacked up to all other restaurants...and the quality of food....I stick to my 3 stars. First of all, breakfasts at Double T is in my opinion their strength. The quantity is massive (vs. pedantic upscale restaurants---YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE) , the quality is very good (Hard to mess up eggs, bacon and fried potatoes..huh?). The breakfast menu is huge by normal restaurant standards...even diner standards. HOWEVER DO NOT TRY TO MAKE A SPECIAL ORDER. I saw they had a Greek omlette and I wanted to add grape leaves on it. (They have other Greek dishes with grape leaves so I know some is in the pantry..) HOLY COW....They went back and forth with the chef...the owners...the floor manager...the waitresses....I offered to pay more for the grape leaves...I just had a taste for them in the omlette. They finally said............no. I just gave up at that point and threw tobasco and ketsup on the eggs.....For breakfast....I would give them 4 stars....however they are open 24 hours so all the menu items count too. Eating dinner here is like eating at a convalescent home cafeteria. The veggies are over boiled..(just like grandma used to make)....the Italian food....the sauce is tomato sauce with a wiff of herbs.....very bland.....the meat loaf is actually pretty good smothered in gravy.....the salads are pretty insipid...but edible......this is American comfort food at its finest......the steaks......welll....Ruth nor Chris is nowhere to be found... To keep things in perspective....I rather eat here than Denny's....I take my family here because everyone can find something they want.....(hmmmmm....chicken fingers...mac and cheese....) Price is reasonable....just a few bucks more than eating at McD's..... In summary...like I said before....3 Yelp stars....but 4 stars for diners only...........hmmmmm did someone mention Barney's Beanery in Hollywood?.......(different chapter.....)

A very good traditional diner with some not-so-traditional offerings. With items like seafood pasta and jambalaya (special), this place has quite a few things to choose from. Nevertheless I still just got french toast and eggs, though :P They have quite a dessert selection on display as you walk in, but I didn't get a chance to grab anything... but should I ever come here again, I'm grabbing a cannoli.

Okay, okay - so the food is gross. It is. There's not a good thing on the menu. But it has something that almost nothing else does - it's open late. If you need a meal at 2am, this is your only option. So suck it up. Because it's the only game in town.

  • Sarah F.

Excellent service! Great for groups. These servers work hard and the food comes out quickly . We stop here before and after our yearly vacation to ocean city md.

Food was horrible!!! Coffee was burnt. Soup tasked like corn starch. Salad was bland. Even the service was horrible...

Staff weren't too helpful or attentive.

waitress was rude and we saw her playing on her phone before bringing our drinks. then we were told they WILL NOT make home fries without onions. WHAT kind of policy is THAT?!?!? Walked right out and will never return.

  • Dianne Z.

Large menu. Great prices. Hair in the hash browns. An automatic one star restaurant. They did apologize and replace the dish.

  • Mike B.

    3.5 stars. Like Jesse B., I'm not the kind to go to a diner and get anything other than a nice, big, thoroughly unhealthful breakfast. But I'd already eaten breakfast the day the in-laws decided to treat us to their favorite greasy spoon. So I ordered the next best diner meal after eggs and home fries: the tuna melt. Other than being made with entirely too much mayo, that tuna melt was delish, served on rye toast (my favorite toast in the whole world) and smothered with cheddar. I killed it. And the large, hearty steak fries that came with it. As well as the matzo ball soup that accompanied the "platter" option. Another quintessential diner dish. Yes, it was a lot of food. It was the holidays. Stop judging me. Husband had an open-face meatloaf sandwich with baked potato and beets (straight from the can -- classic). He felt the texture of the 'loaf was more spongy that burger-y, but the flavor was there, and he managed to eat just about all of it. SIL went with an omelet and home fries, Step-MIL the old two eggs, bacon, sausage, and breakfast potatoes, and FIL had the Athenian Sandwich platter. Best food ever? Ha ha. Great diner food? Sure. The service was pretty slow, but the place was packed, and our server was working his fanny off. I can see why this is the in-laws' favorite weekend breakfast spot. I'd be happy to get treated to more meals here. {{wink wink}}

Stopped in for a quick Sunday brunch. Packed parking lot & a line for a table, so we grabbed seats at the counter. Yummy cream of crab soup, big BLT sandwich and delicious meatloaf. This place is the real deal. We'll be back.

Took about 15 minutes just to get a table even though there were tables available. Seriously we could've seated ourselves. Food was plain bad and service was mediocre at best.
